  10. Hi Vicki,
I was going through treasured pics of Guatemala from exactly a year ago and am picturing the vans you are riding in,the children waiting in anxious anticipation for whatever you can give them, the big eyes of the children in the orphanage, the empty cement slabs and the finished homes with families on their knees,……what a blessed week you are going to have….No better place to spend your birthday…in Paradise:) I can’t wait to see your pics!

    Shelley

    • Hey there:-) Yes! It has been an amazing trip – life changing in so many ways. I am so thankful for the experience and am excited to come back again. Keegan and I are determined to learn Spanish so that we can converse more easily with the people here. I would love to get together to share stories and pics!

  11. Happy Birthday Vicki!!!! I hope you have an amazing day dedicating your homes and watching many give their lives to Christ!!! Enjoy every minute of it and we will be praying you guys through! Love ya girl!!!

  12. Happy birthday, sis! You’re in my thoughts and prayers. God is doing amazing things in you and through you! God gave you all power and authority when he said, “…Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow those who believe: In my name shall they cast out demons; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Mark 16:15-18 The power of God is in you! May your heart rejoice as you meditate on the goodness of God! His blessing of a long and satisfying life is upon you! Happy Birthday, Vicki! Love you!

    • Hey there dear sister! Thank you so much for the encouraging words, prayers and scripture- it is a huge encouragement to me as we continue to work each day sharing the Gospel. Amazing things are happening because of the prayers of the faithful! We are headed out today for our last village medical clinic. It was an amazing experience last night as we watched almost an entire village come to Christ. Such a powerful and tangeable moving of the Holy Spirit. There was one little girl in particular who took a shine to me, sat with me during the Jesus movie and then also during the preaching time. Of course everything is in Spanish and I don’t understand much, but the Holy Spirit was so powerfully upon us that we could discern what he was saying, an awesome experience. As the invitation was given, my little girl took me by the hand and led me forward, and as I looked around I could see her mom and little brother following! Praise God for the faith of this little child! Please pray for us today, the team is a bit tired and some are struggling with some health issues and so we want to go into today with great faith that God will give us everything we need to finish the work He has given us. Thanks again for your love and prayers!

      Love you lots,

      V.

  13. Happy Birthday Vicki!!!! Prayers for you, Keegan and the whole team!! What an awesome experience to be able to share with your son!! Love ya!

    • Thanks so much for writing Kasey – it means so much to know our friends are praying for us! Big hugs and looking forward to seeing you when we get home.:-)

  15. Happy birthday my sisterchick!! Praying that you sense God’s presence and power in amazing ways and that you reflect His light and love to all you meet. I know that he’ll do amazing things through you all! Love ya girlfriend!!

    • Hey there dear sisterchick! πŸ™‚ Thanks so much for your prayers! I have so much to tell you when we get home. We are going to our final village today so please pray for continued strength to share the love of Jesus. This country is so beautiful and the people equally beautiful. You would absolutely love it here my friend, I am praying that you are able to experience a trip some time soon. God has been showing me so many cool things, and Keegan and I have had several really great times of sharing and prayer together. Keegan is growing and learning so much about himself and our great God. It is such a pleasure to see him share about his struggles with the group and see them come around him in love and acceptance. We both have said that the enemy is definitely attacking us with discouraging thoughts and we had such a sweet time of prayer together this morning, each of us praying for the other. I am proud of the young man of God that he is becoming. I will tell you all about the village we went to last night when we get home – it was amazing to see so many come to Christ! One little girl that had taken a shine to me took me by the hand at the invitation to accept Christ and led me forward to pray, I looked behind and her family was following to accept Christ also! Such a cool experience to see a little child lead her family to Christ! We hear that you are getting lots of snow, I am a little bummed to be missing that but the benefit of being here far outweighs the disappointment! πŸ™‚ Love you girl, can’t wait to see you soon!

  16. Hey there everyone, Thank you all so much for your words of encouragement and for the prayers! I definitely have a greater appreciation for Paul and his heartfelt words, “I thank God for every thought of you” as it is definitely true that my thoughts continually return to those at home whom we love and serve God with on a daily basis. I am so thankful for the prayers of our friends and family!
We started with a little bump in the road for Keegan and I, he lost his wallet in the airport and we almost missed the flight to Guatemala but we managed to get on the flight and then later Delta called and let us know they found it praise God.
A little about our trip so far…we stayed for three days in San Ramon….very remote village near the coast, the drive in was unbelievable, so incredible that they even found this village. We were holding on to anything we could find on the ride, we drove through two creeks and around boulders.
It was quite warm all three days we were there. We worked hard and you would not believe the “stairs” we climbed up and down to get to the house sites. What an amazing place these people live in. The conditions of the houses are so rustic! Our team had a family of 8 and they all helped build the house. I will fill you in on the details but at the end on dedication day all 8 accepted Jesus as their Savior, I am literally weeping as I write this, such an incredible experience. Dedication day was on my birthday and every one of our family members accepted Christ. I cannot think of a better gift!
We are at the mission base again so we are taking some time to regroup and get ready for the next push. I was amazed by the amount of physical and emotional energy each day takes but God is so good and we can definitely feel the prayers of the believers as you all support us. We are praising God for the strength He continues to provide.
Keegan is quite sick today he has possibly picked up a bug from the village although we tried to be so careful so please pray for him – there are a couple of others in the group that are suffering with sickness as well so if you can get the word out to church to please pray for them that would be great.
I can’t wait to fill you in on more later I need to get going to help with the medical stuff. More later, all our love Vicki

  17. Hi Vicki,
Amazing isn’t it! So happy you could experience it. I am so looking forward to everyones testimony! Are my boys behaving?
Love to all of you and many many prayers lifted up for all!
Happy birthday by the way. I went on my birthday one year and had fire works there, tell Dan if he didn’t do fire works for you!
    Love and prayers,
    Sandi J.

    • lol, no fireworks for me but so many people accepted Christ, I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday! Your boys are amazing – such fine young men of God, I am so happy that they could do this trip together. I feel like I have been able to get to know them so much better. We will have lots of stories to tell you when we get home. Thanks so much for your prayers, love you lots!

  18. Vicki — Miss you in West Michigan. So glad that you and Keegan are a part of this team. Am reminded of how fun your family was on the family mission trip a summer ago in the Upper Peninsula. You serve and lead so well and so often — am certain God is teaching you and using you mightily. We saved you some snow and cold to play in when you return. – Pastor Jim

    • Thanks much, we have had an amazing time and are excited to come home to share all our stories. Hopefully we bring some of this warm Guatemala weather with us. (I have to admit I was a little sad to miss the storm ya’ll had, but I spent some time in the warm sunshine so that made up for it a little bit:-) Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

  19. Vicki–I’m hoping you now know when I tell people this was a life changing trip for me, you can better understand what I mean. It is amazing to see God at work on such a daily basis. Please know that there are many people praying for you and the rest of the team as you go to your last night of clinic and Devotions tomorrow night. I can’t wait to hear your stories.
